Saturday, 27th Jun - This was a special day, a long-awaited one even.

It's the reunion of the lesbos: Michelle & Gwennie. Wahaha.
We've not seen each other for more than half a year, and that's a mighty long time!

Headed to town to chill. She said that day's also miracle day.

Miracle #1: I didn't put on any makeup, which is common nowadays. I'm just too lazy to remove my makeup, so I don't bother with it.
Miracle #2: I didn't wear heels that day.

*GASPS* Yes, the old Michelle was such a vainpot. I still wear heels, only it's not a MUST for me now. I've learnt to treat my feet better.

Miracle #3: I said that I didn't feel like shopping. LOL. Unbelievable, I know. Can't believe I said that. The hot weather may have attributed to it, it made me feel lazy!

Some street fest involving many mascots and cosplay which I find to be totally boring. (sorry gwen)

Gwen felt like having Food Republic, so that's where we had our lunch.
It's only my 2nd time at FR, cos I was so anti-FR before.
But from today onwards, that's history. Cos I'm totally in love with their popiah and hokkien mee now~~
And the totally addictive thick curry gravy from the curry rice stall! WAHAHA.

Caught this movie. ZOMG. It's one hell of a hilarious flick.
Warning: You may need to understand American crude jokes to get its humour.
After movie, had our dinner @ Food Republic again.
Slacked awhile, then at 10pm her parents came to pick us and they gave me a ride home.

I'm a happy girl cos I bought my Breadtalk cheesecake!
At $8.80, it's kinda expensive but it's totally worth it.

Sunday, 28th Jun

Swedish meatballs, only at IKEA. ($6.90)

Almond pie, it's a Swedish thing. (Forgot the price. Should be $2++)
With my slogans, I sound like I'm advertising for IKEA Cafe.
Haha. I'm so cool.

There's always been a lot of hype about IKEA's meatballs.
Seriously, very nice MEH?
Well, if I hadn't tried it I would never have known how it tasted.
Headed to Vivocity next.

@ Tajimaya Yakiniku

Weird lightings they have. Half of the place is super dark and the other is brightly lit. Like what you saw in the above 2 pictures.
Is it a Yin-Yang sort concept??

Saucy sauces. (pun totally intended)

We shared this plate of US Wagyu beef ($28)

Had wanted to get the Jap one, but it was sold out already.
This is the short rib of the beef, the fats were very well marbled as you can see.

Grill away!

I think we chose the wrong part of the beef. Should have choose the rump instead.
This was so chewy, to the extent that we had problems masticating it.
I requested for a knife from the waiter and got strange looks from him.
WHAT. I know it's a jap restaurant but I like to eat it Western style ma! (think steak)

And off we went to search for other things to eat!
We landed ourselves on Jap Gourmet Town

It houses three Jap eateries in a single restaurant: Ajisen, Botejyu and Yoshimi.

I had the Tender chicken with vegetables soup curry
This was pretty decent, the chicken was how its stated to be, real tender.
There were also potatoes, cabbages, mushrooms, eggplant, pumpkin, carrot, and an egg in there!
Would have been great if they were more generous with the pumpkin, which I totally love.

If you like your curry to be full-bodied, you'd probably not like this.
Jap curry is really mild, but you can choose the level of spiciness you want. Max. at level 3.

Their signature Moonlight Okonomiyaki

Cai had this and I tried a slice of it.
It looks good ya? With all the bonito flakes on top.. It just spells YUMMY

However, taste-wise, it was slightly underwhelming.
Read:boring.
The yolk wasn't even runny, which I totally expected it would be.
They shouldn't have stinted on the teriyaki sauce either.
After dinner, we ended our meal with our favourite ice-cream parlour.
Haagen Dazs =)

My favourite Macadamia Nut & Strawberry cheesecake ice-cream.

Last week @ the Isetan Hokkaido fair, I didn't bear to buy this scrambled cheesecake which costed $6
Then Ah Cai surprised me with this!
And it was next morning's breakfast.

I'm sure all of you are familiar with scrambled eggs, but scrambled cheesecake?

It's basically a cheese cake that looks 'chopped up' and scrambled when mixed with the cream cheese, custard and other ingredients.
Just leave it to the Jap to come up with such cute stuff.

It consisted of two layers. The top part was scrambled and tasted like sweet scrambled eggs
The bottom part was real cheesy and creamy.
It was a real joy to eat =D

Wed, 1st July

Went to Ji Xiang to buy my favourite ang ku kuehs again.
I'm smart this time, I called to book earlier that morning.

They're real tasty! It should be enough to last me for the week =D

For those who are interested, here's the address.

Ji Xiang Confectionery
Blk 1 Everton Park #01-33
Tel: 6223 1631
Opening Hours: 9am to 5pm daily

Headed to Vivo next.. We seem to be hanging out here pretty often ;)

Pre-dinner dessert at Bakerzin

Cai had some Lychee Mint freeze ($?) which he says tastes like toothpaste. Lol.
I had this Chocolate Souffle with vanilla ice-cream ($10.90)

Loads of icing sugar on top.
This was delicious, the exterior was a little crispy,
and the interior was ethereally light. It literally disintegrated in my mouth.

The souffle was freshly baked and when paired with the cool vanilla icecream, it was a marriage made in heaven.
I swear the ice-cream was totally smooth and addictive!
That's the difference between vanilla ice-cream made from real vanilla pods and your run-of-the-mill vanilla ice-cream

It was so good that I finished the whole thing in seconds.
Unfortunately, my throat felt very heaty after I finished the whole thing.
Too much of the choc makes you feel very jelak, and the portion was bigger than it looked!
Headed to Imperial Restaurant for dinner

I like the medicinal cabinets behind the counter.
It resembles those you see in period dramas.

You're caught on camera!

Appetiser: Stir-fried french beans with tau kwa
The tau cheo sauce was so addictive, I couldn't get enough of it.

Pu er ($6), my favourite chinese tea of all time.
They used a candle to keep the tea hot, that's something really novel to me.
I don't know the name of this dish ($4)
It's basically egg white with some pork floss on top, the nest-like thing you see below is fried potato and it tasted like crackers!
It's such a simple, yet pleasant dish.
The egg white went so well with a few dashes of white pepper.
Pumpkin butter tofu ($?)
Deep-fried beancurd with pumpkin paste, which was so sweet and creamy. I love!!
The addition of pork floss added extra savoriness to it.
Just like any other regular Yangzhou Fried Rice

Forgot the name of this dish too ($26)

It's crispy fried scallops with a chewy interior!
This was quite nice, we enjoyed dipping those fat scallops in the sweet sauce.
Deep-fried tilapia ($?)

Cai liked this, but I found it the gravy too starchy and fishy for my liking.
I liked the crispy fish, though.
It's such a joy to hear the *crack* sound while chewing on it.

This restaurant is known for its exotic dishes.
They serve turtle, scorpion, crocodile, and even ANTS!
Cool huh?

I'd been to this place with my parents before, had quite a pleasant experience.
It was no exception this time.

Their service was impeccable, and the food was good enough to warrant a third visit.
It's movie time after that!

The 3rd instalment of Ice Age, it was quite funny.
Cute as ever, but I liked the first two ones better.
Went to Vivo mart to buy things and it was home sweet home after that =)

Today, 2nd July

Met up with Rong Xin for lunch at Bkt Timah Market
This is what you always see in pictures of Lasagna..

The one I had at Bukit Timah looked liked this

It's my first time trying Lasagna, I had the chicken one.
It's a bit of a let down, I must say.

I certainly didn't know what to expect before, but I certainly didn't expect it to turn out this way.
The supposed-to-be layers of cheese and pasta were all stuck tgth and were lying flat beneath the sticky layer of cheese.
There were loads of cheese in it and it was so 'nua' that it could almost be mistaken for steamed eggs.

Despite not liking it as much as I thought I would, I polished it clean and it left a nasty cheese smell in my breath.
Eww. That's the last time I'd ever eat Lasagna.

Went to NTUC Finest and bought bread, wafu sauce for pasta, and pumpkin!

Headed to JP next as RX wanted to shop for clothes.
She bought a nice ruffled top @ Osmose, suits her =)

Went to NTUC Extra again, and this time I bought more stuff.
Cheese, titbits, cake mix, bread toaster, and garlic spread.
Yes, I can make my own garlic bread tomorrow =DD

I love Mr Bean ice cream
