Hot or not????
Haha. Yup, and that was Miss Universe 2009 :D

I think Miss Kosovo (above) strikes an uncanny resemblance to Audrey Hepburn (below)

When I saw Miss Kosovo on the TV, I was like, OMG AUDREY HEPBURN.
Srsly, she's a dead ringer for the latter, which I totally adore.

Look again! Alike or not?! (the one on the left)

Watching a bevy of beauties from countries all over, was totally awesomeeee.
I'm no lesbian, but I just have an appreciation for beauty :D

Sunday, 23rd Aug

Cai & I went to explore Orchard Central again!
Most of the tenants are already open for business this time.
I like OC's glass lifts, it has a busy NY feel to it.

Lunch @ Tonkichi
Located at the 7th floor of OC

My soba with assorted sashimi set ($26)

Salmon & skin aburi sushi ($12)

Quite nice, I loved the crunchy salmon skin!
Also, the wasabi mayo was not too overpowering
It complemented the sushi perfectly. And I'm not even a fan of wasabi.

Cai had the Ebi Tamago set ($22)

He gave me one of his prawns, which were HUGE.
It was nice and crispy, but the sauce that was drizzled over it was a tad salty.

Ordered a hire katsu on the side too ($3.90)
It means breaded pork fillet in English.

This is how it looks on the inside.
It was so crispy that one could hear the 'krr' sound when I bit into it
I relished every moment of savouring this baby :D

What a satisfying meal.
Then we headed to Cine to watch 'Where Got Ghost'

It was hilarious!
I mean, if you're a loyal fan of Jack Neo's humour, like me :D
It would be best if you understood Hokkien, to me it seems funnier that way.

And of course, the ending contained the heartwarming element that JN never fails to add into his works.

Had our dinner @ Shokudo Streets of Japan
Located at B1 of The Heeren

In case you don't alr know, this place uses the same system as the now-defunct Marche.
You use an electronic card to order and pay for your food.
What a brilliant gimmick. Consumers won't feel the pinch that way.

Unagi Fried Rice ($ I forgot)

See. Their gimmick works!
I just ordered it as anything with Unagi just spells L-O-V-E.
Didn't even bother to check the price. Like what if it costs $20 for a plate?

Just to show you the interior.
It's like our local Nasi Pattaya sans the ketchup.
Also, it contained tiny cubes of unagi within. Lovelove!

I'm glad I ordered this. It tasted great!!
The rice emanated a 'wok hei' aroma, which is imparted by cooking the food in a wok over a high flame while stirring and tossing quickly.
Resulting in caramelization and gives the food a slight smoky and charred flavour.

Wok hei is commonly found in zi char dishes.
There, you've learnt something new today :D

Shared this spicy seafood hotpot. ($9.80 i think)
Had sotong, fishcake, mushroom, prawns, scallop, artificial crabmeat, golden mushrooms, and veg in it.
Wow, quite a lot eh!

It was quite spicy for me cos I can't take spiciness well.
While drinking the broth, I choked several times, but that didn't stop me from finishing all of it.
It was kinda addictive, must be the effect of MSG.

Prawn & bacon skewer ($ Forgot)

This was quite nice.
Crunchy prawns grilled with salty bacon, what could possibly go wrong?

When I laid my eyes on this at the Kushi (grill) section, I knew I had to have it.
Gindara a.k.a cod fish ($12.90+)

It was slightly crispy on the exterior and extremely soft on the inside.
It went well with the sweet teriyaki sauce too.
My only gripe was that it contained way too many bones.

What could be a better way to end off a meal with none other than Blueberry Cheesecake?
It was quite nice, it had a yogurt-like texture and didn't taste to cheesy.

Next, we headed to ION Orchard as I wanted to buy some bread and pies from Bread Society
but when I reached there, the ones I wanted were all sold out! =(

Waited for cab for super long. I think at least for 30 minutes?
But we didn't mind as we were too busy planning for our Taiwan trip.
Super duper excited!!!!!

R.I.P Mr Ramachandra Muthusamy Kulanthaivelu

This is a very loh-so post
Pls don't read if you are feeling sleepy..

Eyes popping out..

Some good friends that accompanied me during my study period

You all must be thinking, who in the world is Mr Ramachandra Muthusamy Kulanthaivelu?
Ans: He's someone who passed away on Wednesday.

Well, people pass away everyday, so why am I getting so emotional about it?
If you have 5 minutes to spare, please take a look at this article.

Ystd, while reading the New Paper in the train, I came across this article
My eyes went all misty after reading it
but I tried to control myself as it would seem silly to tear while reading the papers

The demise of this kind-hearted man is a great loss to this world.
He made a difference and changed the lives of countless people, and also the 150 cats.
It really touched me as I didn't know such selfless, altruistic people even existed in Singapore, a society where people seem to do certain things for a motive/when they stand to gain from it

It gave me a whole new perspective of what it truly means by being a good person.
I think it's more important to FEEL good and have a clear conscience, instead of trying to show people what a good person you are.
Some may not like me, but that's okay
I'm not perfect and I didn't come here to play Jesus
I know perfectly well what kind of person I am and I don't need to prove it to anybody

Yup, I know was a pretty lousy friend.
I'm trying to work on being a better one to the people who have never gave up on me.
Can't guarantee immediate transformation, though.
but I'll take baby steps towards that goal :D

Some things may have changed now, but the good times will always serve as a reminiscence.
All right, enough of the emotional talk.

Ystd after exams, our Business Law tutor gave us a treat at Tambuah Mas restaurant.
(YAY EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!!!!)

This is Mr Lee.
He's really cute, ain't he?
I think he's exactly like Mr Ramachandra.
He's a very caring and sincere teacher

Not just because he gave us a treat, but also all the things he'd done for us, including helping us so much in our Business Law ICA 2.
He didn't need to do all that for us, but he still chose to and I know that it came sincerely from his heart.
When he gave us the CDs that contained our photos, I swear everybody went 'aww' on the spot
He's just so sweet :)
Thank you so much teacher, you're such an angel.

Always camera-ready..

Candid so fun hor? Hehe

Tahu Telor
Not bad.. but i prefer the one at House of Sundanese

Ayam soto

Ayam Goreng

Udang prawns or something

Kang kong.. I didn't touch this. Dislike kang kong!

Something like assam fish

Shan't talk much about the food, it was so-so only.
But the meal was pleasant, nevertheless.
It's always the company that makes a meal enjoyable, isn't it?
Thanks for all your concern (you know who you are)
It makes me feel better knowing that there are people who actually care :)

We had group shots and split ways after that.
Went to Chinatown to get my measurements done alone, spent some me-time with myself.
Did some pondering and sorted out my thoughts.
For now, I'll just let nature take its course.

Lastly, I want to thank my teacher again.
Even a million thanks couldn't express how grateful I am to him.
But I still want to say, Thank you Mr Lee!

It'll all be over soon..

Marketing Hospitality was a flop.
It's the subject I hate most this sem.

But hey, it's OVER! :D
Hope I'll at least secure a 'C' so that Marketing shall never see the light of day, ever again.

2 more papers to go, yet I'm in 'holiday mood' already.
I'm starting to plan for my holiday schedule now. I'm so excited :D:D Hehehe.

Patriotic, or not?

Sigh. Just realised that I forgot to say the pledge at 8.22pm,
something that I've not done since year 07 onwards & had been looking forward to do so.

Anyway, Happy 44th birthday to Singapore!

Am in a state of apathy nowadays so I've been delaying my blogposts for quite some time

Gosh. Madly cute..

Buffet @ Go India

The good: The staff were really sincere.
They kept recommending those food that were nice to us.
Though even w/o any recommendation we still would have tried everything there
I'm a true-blue Singaporean! (very kiasu)

The bad: The food.. I'll just say that it doesn't suit my palate.
The other caucasian families seemed to enjoy it, though.

Went to watch the new movie "Overheard"
The much-anticipated climax seemed to be absent, or was it because of my high expectations for it?

Dinner @ Ma Maison
French & jap fusion cuisine

I like the decor, the ambience, and everything about this restaurant which resembles a quaint little French cottage.
And of course the food!

I don't know this man at all.. Just wanted to take a shot of the place
Sorry mister!

Beef stranogoff with butter rice

Squid ink pasta

Escargots

And we 'checked out' with this key

A very pleasant experience, but I'll shall be smarter in future and go before dinner time.
Cos we waited for 30 mins and only managed to have our dishes served another 30mins later.
The restaurant was packed with people and the staff were running around like mad.
So my point is, the food's good and people love it.

Dessert time, @ Ji De Chi

Almond paste with gingko, barley and beancurd skin

Cai's dessert which is so boring that I forgot what it's called
It consisted of red beans, PLAIN glutinuous balls and coconut milk.
Told you that it's boring.

Black sesame truffle mooncake from Bakerzin!
Mid-autumn festival is one of my favourite festive periods of the year.
Cos there's mooncakes everywhere and I'm absolutely in love with it.
I can eat it everyday w/o getting sick of it.

Today we went to New Lucky Claypot @ Clementi Blk 328
as Cai had craving for claypot rice

Before adding oil & dark sauce
It could do with more lap cheong (waxed sausages) ..

Sigh. Major disappointment.
The rice totally lacked the 'claypot flavour'
The one I had in HK beats this hands down.

Black chicken soup
Quite nice.

Next we went to JP to eat, shop, and eat again.
Went to OSIM and the saleslady was nice to let us try so many of their wonderful gadgets
So shiok. We almost forgot to leave! No la, I'm just kidding.
He bought his massager in the end and we left.

Steamed chilli crab dumplings @ Din Tai Fung
Mmm.. Nicer than their standard pork ones.
Go try it, it's only available once a year!
Until 31 sept.

Seafood la mian in Hot & spicy soup
Nah, not really that nice.
Tasted like beehoon.
Didn't strike a balance with the noodle and soup.
Too much noodles, too little soup.
