Friday, 19th Jun

Amoy street food centre with my makan kaki, whom I think needs no introduction by now.
He's none other than Mr Vegetable =)

My sole purpose was to try the famous Thunder Tea Rice at Amoy FC

I'm glad I did, cos I kinda liked it.
Not only because it's a very healthy dish, but also because I like all the ingredients in the bowl.
Tofu, ikan bilis, chicken floss, long beans, vegetables and peanuts.
The peanuts and ikan bilis added more crunch and flavour to this dish.
However, I didn't like this bowl of soup that was part of the dish.
It had a strong minty smell, it was left untouched after a sip.

After mixing all the ingredients up.
I notice that I like my food to be colourful and complex-looking! =D

Cai had the dry version of beef noodles from the stall "Hong kee beef noodles"
Tried a little of it. The beef was tender, but the gravy was way too sticky.
I found it kinda gross.

Finally.. I've been wanting to try this stall since forever.

This bowl of Peanut & black sesame paste was from Zhen Jie's desserts.
After mixing it all up, you could clearly see how grainy the paste was.
The paste was neither too diluted nor too thick. It was very satisfying!
However, after happily slurping it all up, my throat felt rather heaty.

And after that.. Due to my poor sense of direction, I caused Cai & I to walk under the scorching sun like 2 stupid fools.
We walked round and round, went back to square one a few times.
Finally, we gave up and walked to the nearest MRT to take train.

Decided to stop by Ji Xiang Confectionery at Everton Park to grab a bite
It's a shop that specializes in Ang Ku Kuehs. Cute little turtles!
I got the Corn flavoured one.

I was leaving the place and then I took a bite..
What happened next is clear enough.
Another 6 to da bao home!
Peanut, Sweet bean & Corn.
Other flavours such as yam, coconut, salty bean and durian were sold out, or I would have bought all home!

I shall make a trip down to get a few of each flavour soon.
You really should try it.. I used to quite like AKK but now I LOVE and CRAVE FOR IT!
The skin is thin and unbelievably chewy..
I'm feeling hungry again but I've finished all of it! =(

Patisserie Glace @ Chinatown Plaza

At last, we reached the place that we had so much trouble looking for.

Strawberry Hills ($5)

I shared this delightful treat with Cai. It's a cake & tart combined!
It starts with a light & fluffy layer of sponge, followed by fresh cream with more strawberries sandwiched within, and ends with a thick layer of cookie tart base.
Ooo, and look at that smear of cream cheese. It's wonderful =)

Fromage Syun ($5.70)

It's cheesecake on a tart base!
I enjoyed every bite of this.. and I'm glad I had this baby all to myself =P
The cream cheese was really creamy without being too sour.
Even Cai, who had a bite of this, said it's better than Strawberry Hills.

Our stomachs still had room for more.. So we got a Rin Rin Iced Blueberry Cheese Tart ($3) to share.

Omgomgomg. This was so good.
It tasted just like chilled blueberry cheesecake on a tart.
My stomach was literally shouting, "ANOTHER!"

I loved it so much I had to da bao another 2 Rin Rin Cheese tarts home.
This time, I chose the Chocolate and Mango flavour =D

I would say that all that sweat was worth it, I'd found my new favourite cake bakery!
To the lovely cakes & cheese tarts: I'LL BE BACK.

Cabbed home to put my da bao-ed stuff into the fridge then we went to Sheng Siong to shop for titbits.
Dinner @ Bkt Timah Market

Satay beehoon from the stall that ALWAYS has many people queuing up for it.
I'd tried it before and it tasted great the last time.
However, this time the peanut taste wasn't strong enough & too little gravy was given.

Saturday, 20th Jun
Met Joanne @ Bugis after she knocked off.
Was supposed to meet at 6.30 but I arrived at 7+
I'm so sorry girl!

Acc-ed her to Iluma arcade to 'catch' plushies. Her favourite.
I think she's quite gd at it too, cos she has quite a collection back home.

After that, XWZ came to pick us from Bugis and we headed to Kallang Leisure Park for dinner.

Initially wanted to eat Sushi Tei but KLP only had Nihon Mura so we had to make do with it as Jo & I were already very hungry!

It's quite interesting, you use colour sticks to order your food and they will cook it & send it to your table.
And despite the crowd, the food came really fast!

Baby octopus
This was alright.. The sauce was tad too thick but I liked it cos it's sweet =)

Salmon sashimi

I've been avoiding this ever since the first time I had it in Sakae (horribly thick)
Nihon's salmon was nicely-sliced, not too thick nor too thin.
I'm accepting sashimi into my life again =)

Ebi tempura

My favourite in Jap restaurants
Nihon's version was quite nice. The prawns were really soft and it was easy to bite into.
However, I prefer the crispier ones I had at Shabuya.

Jo & I shared this pot of rose bud tea. It smelt so nice!
Joanne had this Teriyaki rice don

They were really generous with the mayo

Inoki wrapped in bacon skewer
Salty & chewy bacon with crispy golden mushrooms, what's there not to love?

I had the Unagi.
No rice provided, so I got some sushi to fill myself up.
Forgot to take pictures, but that's okay cos it tasted normal.

Overall, I was pretty pleased with the food here.
I came in without expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised!

Of course, it wasn't superb, but it definitely wasn't bad either.
Quite pocket-friendly too. It costed only $60 for the 3 of us.
I find their food better than Sakae or Suki Sushi.

I was so excited to get Mr Bean's giant ice-cream for dessert but it was already closed when we went downstairs. Very disappointing =(

Headed to Thai Disco next but I couldn't get in, shucks.
XWZ sent us home first cos he's goin to club later on.
What a shame the night ended so early. But part of it was due to my inefficient planning =X

Alright, I shall get to bed now.
Meeting Cai tomorrow.. It's time for some Ramly burger! Wahaha =D
