Movie + Chomp chomp

It was Azlan's bday on Mon, and the Clique together Elwin and Kam celebrated it with him =)

After school, we went to AMK Hub to watch Blood: The Last Vampire
It was quite nice in the beginning, but towards the ending it was pretty sucky.
The girl was uber cool, though.

She's the same girl from My Sassy Girl!
Jessie & I think she looks like Barbie Hsu.

Chomp chomp next!

We bought Azlan a bday cake at Sweet Secrets

Chocolate Royale, my favourite cake.
Caution: It's VERY sweet! and very delicious too =P

Say cheeze!

We tried to find the same playground but it seems so faraway.
Gave up finding in the end and headed home. Haha.

A-la carte buffet at G7 Sinma Deep Sea

RGDK & I went to this place for lunch buffet, introduced by him.
G7 Sin Ma Deep Sea Live Seafood Restaurant (what a long name)
No.3 Seng Poh Rd
New Cape Inn #01-01
(S)168891

More and more families came, and the whole place was packed.
We were lucky that we went early.

And the buffet officially starts..

Braised shark's fin with crab meat (only allowed 1 bowl per person)

I like my soups with loads of pepper, so i added a lot, thinking how delicious my bowl of shark's fin would taste.
Little did I know that the pepper didn't dissolve into the soup, instead it coagulated into gross little clumps.

This showed how thick the soup was. Way too much thickener used there.
But they were generous with the shark's fin though. There were 2 chunks of it in there.

Stir-fried asparagus with scallop in XO sauce
I'd forgotten most of the dish names. The specific names were 'koped' from their web. Hehe.

Definitely not 'XO-tasting', but still passable. The gravy on top was spicy black bean. I quite liked it.

Braised giant garoupa in claypot
It didn't come in a claypot though.

This was alright, the garoupa was fried first before being braised, as the exterior was rather crispy. In terms of flavour, it was a little on the salty side.

Fried prawn with almond flakes and oats
Braised whole abalone

Fried prawns with herbs

It's the famous drunken prawns.
I liked this, the taste of shao xing wine was not too overwhelming.

Steamed red fish

The fish could have been softer, but the gravy is superb.
Sweet & spicy, just the way I like it =)

Coffee pork ribs

The scent of coffee just grows on you. But the gravy was too sticky and sweet.

Fried venison with spring onion & ginger

We love venison meat! But this was kinda disappointing.
The gravy was too bland, it's only saving grace was that the venison was really soft and tender.

Deep fried sea bass with soya sauce

We saw other tables having it, so we had to have it too.

It definitely did not disappoint. It was fried to the crispiness, the flesh was soft, and the gravy was sweet and garlicky.

It's my favourite of the 16 dishes.

Kung pao chicken

I think it tasted alright, the chicken pieces were really tender.
Cai said it was boring, though.

Fried beancurd with conpoy and crabmeat

I didn't really enjoy this. The tofu tasted weird, kinda rubbery.

But the gravy was ok. I kept fishing for the crabmeat, hehe.

Fried soft shell crab with butter

One word: Gross. It tasted as bad as it looked.
Only a small portion of it was crab, the rest was all batter.

Lesson learnt, never order soft shell crab in Chinese restaurants.

Deep fried salad dough sticks

After eating a few, I suddenly realised I forgot to snap it.
But then again, it's not really worth the mention.

Neither was the Beijing smoked duck with crepe, which I forgot to snap. It's basically Peking duck except that duck meat was given instead of crispy duck skin.

Deep fried red bean pancake

Halfway through eating, I suddenly remembered to snap it.
I don't know how to describe it. It tasted very floury, and it wasn't crispy at all.
Didn't get more of this.

And we ended the meal with some fresh fruits.

The buffet offered a wide selection of 42 dishes and we only had 16 of them.
Which I think was a great feat considering there's only 2 of us =P

Live seafood

Prince prawns, even bigger than king ones!

Toothless fish

We headed to Suntec to look for Joanne as she's working there

Bought a sunblock from her, it's pretty good!

Secret Recipe next. Banana Choc cake.

Disappointing, the last time I had it, the chocolate fudge was molten-like and the sponge cake was moist.
This time it was dense and dry, and the chocolate fudge was way too hard. Sigh.

Our stomachs still had a bit of space left, so we decided to try Siam kitchen.

Ordered their green curry with roti prata.
It proved to be a right choice, the green curry was shiok!
I love anything with lemongrass in it. It was not overly-spicy too.

Felt so bloated and tired, so we cabbed home after that.
